Studio Mgt. Software

Hi Folks,

I am using Get Physical as my studio management software. It does okay with the dance studio side of the business, but I have some challenges with the adult yoga/dance side of things. Here is my issue, we offer a class card for Yoga and Pilates, and run our specialty classes like Belly Dancing, Zumba on a series basis. I am moving to offering every class as a series at a better price but also continuing with the class card for those that need flexibility. The challenge comes when a client registers for a series but also has a class card. When we check that person in on the system for let say Belly Dancing it deducts a class from the class card. What I need is a system that can handle one client on a class card and also in series? Hope this makes sense? Any suggestions?

I am a new member!

This is Kat Barton, I am Co-Creator of The Graceful Planet Moving Arts Center, in Sandy Hook, CT. The Graceful Planet is both a Yoga and Pilates Studio and a Dance Studio. My daughter, Grace is the dancer and my partner, and I am the yogini.

I just listened to the audio of the latest conference call and I am so impressed and excited to be apart of this dynamic group. Joan, I am not sure if you remember me, but I did travel to All That Matters about 7 years ago when I first opened my business to have you review my business plan and consult with me regarding The Graceful Planet. It has not been easy, but we have been finding our way and growing.

I am just coming off the busiest time of our year ( dance show) and I am starting to land and catch up. Next week I am off to Kripalu for my last 500 teaching module... after that, I feel like I will be ready to dive into the next chapter of our studio as a Kripalu Affiliate Studio. I am blessed to be apart of such a special group, and grateful to have the opportunity to learn from all of you.

Peace,

Kat

Interns

We have had two high school interns for the last few weeks, for a total of 3 1/2 weeks. They each work 25 hours a week and are free! They have been great. They have created emails, surveys, flyers, cleaned, learned how to sign in MBOL, etc.

I just sent out my first survey through Constant contact. It was a survey to ask for feedback from students who had a sub for a Vinyasa Class on Tuesday. I heard that the class was too easy and I wanted to get the feedback so I can let the sub know for future reference. I got the class email names from MBOL, exported them into excel, then imported them into Constant contact as a separate group (one name didn't transfer because she had opted out of cc) and then sent them the survey.

We also just ran a report in MBOL to see who came in 2006-07 and hasn't returned and 1700 names came up. We have most of the emails so we may export them into excel, import into cc and then send them an email about our new special, 2 weeks for $20 which has been a big hit!

Yoga Smoga

Did anyone else think of Fran Dresher when they read this title? Well...I recently did a workshop with one of the writers of Fran's show, Andy Goodman. Check out his website at http://www.agoodmanonline.com Andy teaches the art of stroy telling and transforming boring presentations into engaging stories.
